It’s Best to Rest

Good morning, beautifuls!

As always, Saturday was a great day for me! So much so that I didn’t have time to post! All of your suggestions on my post about being in a rut were to take a day of rest, and that’s exactly what I did!

I got up, did some laundry, watched some Mad Men, and read some of the book I am currently reading.  The book is called 32 Third Graders and One Class Bunny.  It is a super cute, super true book about being a classroom teacher.  An easy read, but mind opening and hilarious as well!

And as I mentioned, the BF and I went on an actual date last night.  It seems as though we very rarely get to do anything just the two of us (other than just sit around), and it was a really nice evening!

All ready to go!

He's all ready to go, too...except maybe the shoes 🙂

Our date took place in Harrisburg.  Even though I am from Pennsylvania, I have never really ventured too far east.  First, we went to a restaurant called Cafe Fresco.  Delicioso! Each of us had three course meals! I guess there’s nothing wrong with splurging from time to time. We started off the meal with some yummy, yummy dumplings.  Then, I had the best caesar salad I have ever had in my life.  It was called an Asian caesar salad, so it came with some spicy cashews and won ton noodles on top.  And for the main course, we each had some pizza!

Yummy dumplings! 🙂

And for the best part of the date: HARRY POTTER IN IMAX 3D!!!! Ahhh was it amazing or what?! I wish I could have watched it again immediately after it ended.  And again… and again. Unfortunately, I will probably have to wait until it is out on DVD to see it again! 😦

Soooo cool! I wish I could have taken it, but I don't think it would fit in my wristlet...

Aren't we cute? 🙂

The night was superb.  We did have a little bit of time that brought us back to reality, though.  On the drive home through torrential downpour, we passed a van that had just wiped out and flipped over on the road.  It was intensely scary.  The cops and ambulances hadn’t shown up yet, and there were people huddled around each other.  It made me realize how lucky I am, and I sent a thousand prayers their way as we passed.

Now for today, I am hopefully out of the exercise rut! We had planned to do our long ride today, but it is raining, so I am just going to have to go to the gym today instead.  I guess I will be skipping my long ride this week (and next week, too, as I head to Canada!).  Hopefully,  I will be strong enough to do the bike race by just riding the stationary bike, ellipticalling (totally made that word up…), running, and lifting at the gym.

And after the gym, I am off to see Andrew McMahon, my love, in concert.  Jack’s Mannequin and Guster are in Baltimore, and my roommate and I get to go! Yay!

Anyone else have any great stories, experiences, or trips this weekend?

Any suggestions on how to get in best shape for a 65 mile bike ride when it rains every time I try to ride?
