My Bridal Party

Happy Friday, everyone! Guess what I am doing this morning?!

Joining a new masters swimming program! I hope I like it as much as my one in Shippensburg! I’ve missed swimming!

But the real important part of this post:

I’ve asked all of my bridesmaids to be in my wedding! You may remember when I asked my junior bridesmaid, Makenna, with her Christmas present cake.

I saw all of the others over the holidays, and all five of the girls have accepted!

I asked them each with a poem and a purple ring.  My wedding will for sure be purple Smile

Here’s the poem I used:

The day, the dress
The bride, the groom
The joy, the tears
Will all come so soon

Professing true love
To my husband-to-be
With family and friends
All watching me

I hope the sun will
Be shining down,
Keep your fingers crossed
That I’ll fit in my gown…

But there’s just one more thing
that there needs to be…
and that’s to have you
Standing with me!

Will you be my bridesmaid?

Now, let me introduce the girls:

My maid of honor will of course be my sister, Christine!

And my cousin, Lindsay, said yes as well!

Here’s a picture of the there of us from over the summer:

Lindsay on the left, Christine on the right.

Next up: my best friend, Melissa.  We have been friends since we started swimming together way back in the day! She is one of the few friends I still keep in touch with from high school, and I wouldn’t have it any other way than with her joining in my special day!

You may remember her from our recent trip to Ft. Lauderdale…but I’m going to show an oldie from out high school prom.

And the other two lucky ladies are Trav’s cousins, Kirstin and Logan.  They already feel like my own cousins, and I am very excited to have them as part of the special day.

They’re the other two girls in that picture with me!  And the two guys with Trav will be in the wedding, too! Eek!

The five of those girls along with Makenna make up the special ladies for my special day! Can’t wait to get to planning with them!

If you’re married, how many bridesmaids did you have?! If you’re not married, have you thought of who you might ask?!

  1. Congrats! Picking and asking your bridesmaids is such an exciting step, and that poem is adorable! I’m so happy all of your girls said yes!

Aw! Wow Nikki, everything seems to be coming together so quickly! Congratulations on completing your bridal party 😀

  3. AWE I love it! Wedding planing, dear god. I have thought about it…and thought about how I better be making some friends if I’m to have a bridal party. LOL. I’m thinking I’ll have three but that is all I know. I’m on the process of making more friends so that I can have a wedding.

  4. It’s getting exciting!! Looks like it is all coming together! Love that poem. 🙂

  5. aw such a cute way to ask them! I think 5 is a perfect number! I’ve thought about it tons of times and ultimately decided NOT to have a wedding party. I’ve been a bridesmaid in like six weddings and I have two sis in laws, ryan has three sisters. Trying to pick and choose from all of those girls would just be too much work. Someone would get hurt in the process. Everyone already knows how I feel about it, so luckily they all understand by now. I’m excited for you to start planning!

  6. yay! That is such a cute way to ask them! I’m glad they all said yes! I’m having 3! (:

  7. Eeeek so exciting!! I have definitely thought about it and for the maid of honor I have 3 besties, one from hs, one from college, and one from the real world, its going to be a toss up because the first two are total space cadets : ) I would say probably 4 or 5!

Aww yayy for having your best friends standing beside you as you marry the love of your life. I’m really looking forward to following you and your wedding plans… I have this weird fascination with all of the details haha

  9. aww this is such an adorable way to ask them. I really can’t think of a better way to get the awesome news.

  10. How fun!!!! I had a hard time choosing who I wanted my bridesmaids to be because we only wanted 8 to be in the bridal party.

Congrats on finding a master’s swim program- I hope that it is even better than your old one.

  11. YAHOO!! Of course they said yes, how could they not!! I want a big bridal party!! 5 sounds perfect.

  12. Awww congrats, thats so so exciting!! And by the way purple sounds like a great color for a wedding 🙂

  13. Aww, I love that you asked them in such a cute way! So sweet! I had 4 bridesmaids and a maid of honor. 🙂

  14. what a cute way to ask them! I just asked mine over the phone…nothing special…kinda wish i had, but oh well

  15. YAY! I am so excited to hear about your wedding!! That is such a cute way to ask them! I asked my MOH by giving her a bag full of wedding supplies, tissues, tide white out pen, advil, breath mints, bandaids, chocolate, and other little goodies. I labeled the bag Maid of Honor survival kit. She was ecstatic and cried! I only had one maid of honor no other bridesmaids!

  16. Very exciting! I had 6 bridesmaids… my sister, my sister-in-law, my 2 cousins, and 2 friends. Oh, and they wore purple! 🙂

  17. That’s so exciting! I know I’m going to ask two of my cousins and my best best friend. No idea who else. 😛 I suppose I should find a groom first though, lol!

  18. I am so excited for you! You are going to have a beautiful set of ladies standing to you on your big day!!

  19. Very exciting!! I “proposed” to my bridesmaids with ring pops, it was fun!

We had five and five, but at this point probably only a few of those people would be in our wedding if we were getting married now. Which is unfortunate.

  20. I love the poem you used. That’s so sweet! We had 8 and 8 for our wedding and that’s not counting our two dogs and their escorts!

  21. Awww I am so excited for you!!! I can’t wait to hear about your dress! 🙂
I would definitely have to have my said as my MOH, and then my 3-best girlfriends!
    I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!
    xoxo!

  22. oh my gosh that poem is SO WONDERFUL!!! I had a really small group since we did a destination wedding
